NOTES

1   Sam knew the Archivist’s father back home before the war (L/Cpl Norman Scott CMP) and teamed up with him in Dulag 185, Corinth, early May 1941.

2   Shared same cattle-trucks to Stalag XVIIID – my father’s PoW No was 5924.

3   Shared same farm accommodation when my father was in ArbKdo 233/L at Radkersberg, S Austria.

4   Wrote his memoirs as “Sam’s Saga”.

5   Died 3rd August 2012 aged 99.

6   Fellow thespian of Jack Swinnerton at Stalag 383
